Event History & Retention

Search and filter past events. Track patterns over time. Up to 365 days of history on Business plans.

Real-time is not enough

Watching events in real-time is valuable, but it only tells you what is happening now. To understand your product, you need to look back. How did signups this week compare to last week? When did that customer actually cancel? What was happening before that error spike?

Without history, you lose the ability to spot trends, investigate issues, and answer questions about the past. Every event becomes ephemeral, seen once and then gone.

Some teams export events manually and hope they remember to check the export when questions arise. Others rely on analytics tools that aggregate data but lose the individual event detail. Neither approach gives you fast, searchable access to your full event history.

Your events, preserved and searchable

Every event you send to Quicklog is stored and indexed. How long we keep it depends on your plan: 30 days on Free, 90 days on Pro, 365 days on Business. Within your retention window, every event is fully searchable and accessible.

Filter by date range to see events from a specific period. Search across all fields to find events matching a keyword. Combine channel filtering with date ranges to answer questions like "show me all cancellations from last month."

When you need events outside of Quicklog, export them. Download as JSON for programmatic analysis or CSV for spreadsheets. The export includes all metadata, so you do not lose any context.

For compliance or long-term archival, Business plans offer a full year of retention. Track year-over-year growth, analyze seasonal patterns, and maintain records for audits without building a separate data pipeline.

What you get

  • 30-day retention on Free tier for getting started
  • 90-day retention on Pro tier for growing teams
  • 365-day retention on Business tier for long-term analysis
  • Full-text search across all event fields and metadata
  • Date range filtering to focus on specific time periods
  • Export as JSON or CSV for external analysis or compliance

When history matters

Trend analysis

Compare this week to last week. Check if your launch actually moved the needle. See if that new feature is getting more usage over time. Historical data makes trends visible instead of just a feeling.

Investigation

A customer says they signed up last month but never got access. Search their email, find the signup event, see exactly what happened. No digging through databases or asking engineering to run queries.

Compliance and audits

Need to show when a user consented to terms? Need records of payment events for accounting? Export your event history with full metadata. Business tier keeps a full year for annual audit cycles.
